TBT(Task-based Teaching) is an influential language teaching approach put forward by language teaching researchers in the 1980s after tons of research and practice.TBT takes the specific task as power or motivation for the study,regards finishing tasks as learning processes and considers presenting the achievement of the tasks(rather than scores) as reflecting teaching results.It changes the basic concept of language application into a new type of teaching approaches which have practical significance,and it is the extension of Communicative Teaching Approach."English Curriculum Standards" which was promulgated by Ministry of Education in 2001 suggests "teachers should avoid using methods of simply passing on knowledge of language,but should try to use Task-based Teaching approach......students learn and use English to complete the learning tasks by thinking,research,discussion,exchange and cooperation,etc".With the implementation of "English Curriculum Standards", TBT research in our country develops quickly,and has achieved fruitful results.In the field of education,people transfer attention from teachers to students,and the classroom teaching is student-centered.Teaching objectives are not only to enhance the comprehensive English language-using ability but also to boost students' communicative competence.From the perspective of TBT,this study confirms the necessity for implementing TBT in high school in accordance with the requirements of the new curriculum standards and actual needs of high school English teaching.The paper also puts forward principles for tasks design and constructs TBT model of reading.The use of empirical research methods validates that TBT can be used effectively in English reading classes and can increase students interest in learning and reading ability.It demonstrates rationality and effectiveness of TBT mode,so as to achieve the goal of applying the theory of task-based theory to English teaching in high school.The paper mainly consists of six parts:Part One:Presentation of reasons,significance,purposes and methods of this study.Part Two:Definition of related concepts and research at home and abroad.Core of the research on task-based teaching is to seize the exact meaning of "Task".The paper cites scholars' different definition of "Task".Based on the analysis of related theories and elements,the paper constructs the model of classroom teaching,including:Pre-task-Task Circle-Language Focus.Part Three:Exploration of design principles and stages of scenes creation.Part Four:investigation about implementation of TBT in high school English teaching and reflection on the reasons.Through questionnaires and interviews,the author attributes the reasons why implementation of task-based teaching is not optimistic to many factors including teachers,students and teaching materials,etc.Part Five:Application of TBT mode in reading practice has gained satisfied teaching results.Part Six:Conclusion.Although TBT mode is not adapted to present situation of education in China in many aspects,according to the experimental application of TBT mode in high school English teaching,TBT is people-oriented.It gives full play to the specialty of teachers, focuses on students' individual characteristics,and fully arouses students' interest in learning,so as to enable them to achieve sense of accomplishment and self-confidence, to improve their overall quality in the learning process,to enhance their practical ability, to cultivate the spirit of innovation,to develop comprehensive language ability.So it is a teaching mode worthy of being advocated greatly.
