A Study On Postmodern Thoughts Of Social Science

With the rapid development of science and technology, economic structure and social structure change accordingly, peoples'life and their ways of thinking also change greatly, postmodernism thoughts gradually appear. Postmodernism was originally produced in architecture, poetry and other fields, forty or fifty years of the 20th century, and gradually formed in the sixties and seventies of the 20th century, when Western developed countries came into the "post-industrial society" as the background, expressed as a departure from the traditional and critical tendencies of modern design style of architecture, and in poetry, painting, personalized style, after the alleged multi-used literature, language, art, politics, history, sociology, philosophy and other social sciences and even more than other areas of Natural Science is critical of modernity orientation or style of thought, which not only subverts the traditional way of thinking, it also provides a new perspective, which has led to the social sciences as well as the pervasive influence of Natural Science.Postmodernism focuses on the entire field of social sciences, on the base of doubting and criticizing modernity and modern social science thoughts, has gradually formed scientific thoughts. It advocates the uncertainty rather than certainty, diversity rather than unity, differences rather than comprehensive, complex rather than simplicity. It's focus is the unique thing rather than a general thing, is not to repeat things and not to replace recurring convention called things or things behave.This paper analyzes the post-modern social science system from three basic levels, which are the historical sources, theory features, academic significance and limitations.The paper is divided into five parts, the introduction briefly discusses the context of Postmodernism, whose theory process of sprouting, producing and developing, as well as it's present research situation in domestic and international and research significance.The first chapter discusses the historical sources of the post-modern social science. First of all, I analyzed the content of post-modern social scientific thinking, and generalized it's wide use; Secondly, I indicated that the formation of post-modern social science thoughts is mainly due to post-structuralism theory, Foucault's post-modern social theory and Bowman's Postmodernism sociology. And then I discusses the development process of post-structuralism and the relations with postmodernism and the social sciences; Foucault's social theory, including archeology of knowledge,the relations between knowledge, power and morality and his post-modern sociological theory; Bowman maintain that go beyond postmodern sociology, to construct sociology of post-modernity.The second chapter discusses the theory features of the post-modern society science that are critical, difference and diversity. The critical is mainly anti the modern subject, rationalism and objectivity. The differences mean remove the center of the theory and deconstruction.The diversity contains two aspects which are criticizing universality and advocating diversity.The third chapter discusses academic significance and limitation of the post-modern society science. It starts from demonstrating the progress and limitations of post-modern society science, whose progress is re-deconstructing the concept of society and culture again, providing a new perspective in understanding the social sciences, constructing pluralistic scientific thoughts. The limitations embodied in three aspects which are the analysis field, criticism of modern society and criticism of rationalism and modern science; Understanding its progresses and limitations help people to evaluate modern social science research objectively, to grasp the development of social science research.The conclusion in this article, mainly generalize and summarize this paper, promoting people to understand social scientific thoughts accurately understanding it's process and future trend, constructing a new integrated theory of social scientific thinking, broaden the perspective of social science research.
