Education in the People's Republic of China has made rapid progress for sixty years since the establishment of the Republic of China. However, due to the imbalance in the allocation of educational resources, many less resourceful schools are having difficulties. Facing the need of survival and development, these schools did bold research and reform. Some of them have successfully established the teaching model that is compliant with sound pedagogy and that suits the needs of their own development. Encouraging active learning and research-based learning is the essence of such model, and the basic concept of the new courses.I have tried out in practising a model centered around the active learning of students:self-study—collaboration—demonstration and feedback—training, this experiment has achieved satisfactory teaching results. This model focuses on student-centered learning and group communication and collaboration, aims at encouraging their interest in learning, helping them grasp the methodology of active learning. This is a method in which teaching and learning are united. Its basic links are self-learning, collaboration, demonstration and feedback, training. It can serve as a guide in our history teaching, and in improving the efficiency and results of student learning.
