As the international language in modern society, English is necessary for the development of science and technology. The diversity of society calls for the people from different countries and different cultural backgrounds live together well, English is an important tool for international communication. A talented person in 21st century must have the ability to gain and deal with the information, people who can gain the worldwide information by means of English is high qualified person, for this reason, many countries are attaching importance to the English teaching, which is the significant part of the basic education reformation.In China, there are so many problems in senior high school English teaching now. Because the development of economy and culture in our country is lack of balance, teaching goals and teaching contents are not suitable for all the areas in China. In recent years, English teaching reformation has been put forward throughout the whole country. Some schools have proceeded to many teaching reform experiment and gained a lot of excellent achievements, many teachers have changed their views on English teaching. In some senior school which own quite good teaching conditions, the teachers'professional level and students'English level have been improved rapidly, the English teaching materials are not appropriate for students'needs of developing their abilities. As we all know, teaching material is very significant, it is the basis of teachers'teaching and students'learning, and the quality of English textbook may affect English teaching directly. Thus, the reformation and development of English teaching material is becoming a major part of English teaching reformation. In English textbook, reading material is the most important part during every unit and it reflects more language knowledge than any other parts. Whether students can learn reading material well or not influence the result of students'learning. Whether the reading material can achieve the teaching goals made in outline and meet the students'needs of learning is a serious problem. This research focuses on the analysis on reading materials of Senior English for China. The goal is to help teachers to use this textbook more efficiently and meet students'learning needs as good as possible. At last, Use SPSS software to analyze the collected data, and discuss the results. The thesis consists of six chapters: Chapter One Introduction. Chapter Two Literature Review. To show what is English teaching materials and introduce its function and classification. Chapter Three Research. Put forward the research questions; state the objects of the research, the instruments, the methods of collecting and processing data. State the aim, importance and necessity of the research. Chapter Four Data Analysis and Discussion. Use SPSS software to analyze the collected data, and discuss the results. Chapter Five Conclusion. Draw conclusions to the results of the research. Limitations and further research in this field.
