Social Interpenetration Of The Foreigners

As China has opened to the whole world, there are more and more foreigners who come to China to work here and live here, especially in some big cities like Beijing, Shanghai or Guangzhou. The foreigners who reside for long time take more and more percent of the total population in the city. And it leads to the internationalization of the big cities in China. But on the contrary, there is short of the researches of the foreign permanent residents, especially the overall condition of the foreigners including their life and work in China.Through the research we found that the foreigners behave well at their economic merge and social interaction merge, but their cultural merge level and psychological merge level are both very low, which lead to the low level of the overall social interpenetration. And different dimensions of the social interpenetration influence each other and have interaction on each other. Besides, as a group, the identity of foreigner has important effect on the social interpenetration of the foreigners, both advantages and disadvantages.On the other hand, the research also analyzed the character of international communities in the big cities of China. Based on the field investigation of Gubei international community, we found that the development of the international community faces both chances and challenges.
