This history of Olympic Games proves that development of Olympic events and modern science and technology is evolutionary and dependent. More puzzles and requests to be solved by science and technology are proposed by Olympic Games, driving the growth and evolution of population; the application of sporting science and technology arouses great potential implicated in human body to break records and inner limits, while laws and evolutionary process of technology restrict the movement of sporting events.This paper presents concept of technology population under framework of population ecology and evolutionary biology, and interprets hierarchic relationship among technology population, technology individual (technology integration) and technology community; identifies status of patent technology population through several parameters, like density of patent technology population, birthrate and deathrate; age structure and space distribution structure; explores growth rules of patent technology population; finally, describes evolution process of technology population with patent technology evolution map; then, the paper presents number fluctuation and regulation mechanism of sporting patent technology population and sporting events population in the Olympic Games and then, analyzed evolutionary drivers and directionality of co-evolution process; next, the paper interprets evolutionary strategy and path of sporting patent technology population and sporting events population in the Olympic Games. Finally, this study explores development of technology- Olympic events ecological system and predicts evolutionary potential trend of the ecological system.On one hand, study on ecological co-evolution process between patent technology and sporting events in the Olympic Games could optimize sporting technology R&D resource configuration, improve quality of technology innovation, and provide support for government to make administrative decision and corporations to make market exploring decision. On the other hand, the development and evolution of sporting technology could also advance athletes'records and laws of sporting events; systematize training theories and sporting institutions; make further consideration on development of technology and sport. This paper provides a new perspective to research the relationship between technology and sport based on theories of population biology and evolution biology.
