In the fierce situations of competitive sports in the 21st century, development strategy of competitive sports has become the focus of study in China. Chinese women's weightlifting began in 1984, and since the first International Women's Weightlifting Championship, the Chinese Women's Weightlifting Team has earned championships in many international competitions. Besides, about one hundred weightlifters broke world records. With the efforts of several generations of sportsmen, Chinese women's weightlifting has become an advantage event both in China and around the world. Since Sydney Olympic Games listed women's weightlifting as a competitive sport, women's weightlifting developed rapidly around the world. Chinese National Team of Women's Weightlifting won four gold medals at Sydney Olympic Games;three gold medals and one silver medal at Athens Olympic Games; at Beijing Olympic Games, Chinese women weightlifers earned 4 gold medals, and at the same time, Liu ChunHong broke five world records, wchich was great encouragement to the Chinese people. However, behind all these achievements, Chinese weightlifting does have its challenges, because some coutries have begun to focus on women's weightlifting development and took this event as a potential event for a breakthrough in the haul. In the future several years, more and more countries will develop women's weightlifting, and the level of women's weightlifting around the world will be pushed to a new level. In such an envrionment, keeping an advantage position and keeping a sustainable development for the Chinese women's weightlifting is worthy of study and of more concern. The subjects of this thesis are Chinese women weightlifters, weightlifting coaches, the achievements in national and international competitions, and the analyses on present development problems, technical problems, research and reserve personnel cultivation of the Chinese women's weightlifting are based on literature review, interviews with experts, questionaire, and statistical analysis. The results turn out that "National System of Sports" combining with "traditional culture" contribute to the advantage of present success of women's competitive weightlifting in China. However, weightlifting coaches display an incomplete knowledge structure and weightlifters need more bookknowledge training, meanwhile, the problems of post-training recovery and reserve personnel cultivation are the constraints of the event in China. The thesis aims to provide some theoretical basis for the stable and sustainable development of Chinese women's competitive weightlifting and make some moderate contributions to the development of the sport.
