In China, the secondary education institution was established from the late Qing Dynasty. The three-stage school system was introduced thoroughly by the Renyin and kuimo academic system each in 1902 and 1904. Hence the secondary education institution started the initial development. Education reform will inevitably bring about curriculum change. In the late qing dynasty and the early republican china, general secondary school curriculum went through the process from the prototype to the maturity in the continuous innovation of education system. This is the result of combining exploration and reflection, theory and practice. This paper, through the historical survey of common high school curriculum at the joint of the late qing dynasty and the republic of china, analyses the curriculum characteristics and the basic issues of this period, and study on the value of the curriculum. It will provide historical experience for the current new curriculum reform, and has some significance as reference.The paper consists of four parts:The first part:Introduction. This part introduces the topic resource, research significance, reviews, related concepts, research ideas and research methods. The second part:Clear outlines the general overview of secondary school curriculum of this period, from the social background, the concept of secondary education and academic reform.The third part:By contrast and comparison, analyze the characteristics and corresponding changes of the secondary school curriculum at that time.The fourth part:Drawing lessons from history, combined with the reality of today's secondary education reality, illustrates the inspiration of the general secondary school curriculum to the curriculum reform nowadays.
