The subjectivity of females is one of the core topics among gender studies, and the subjectivity of females is also supposed to be the key for the improvement of female position and realize the authentic female liberation. However, most of the gender studies, they treat females as homogeneous and abstract groups, and concern much about "weak" females.Female teachers in universities since the establishment of the new China is the research object of this thesis. This thesis concerns their condition of subjectivity within different historical backgrounds and their voice is worthwhile for concerning. Female teachers in universities they are elites of the society and represent a special social group. As a matter of fact, from the early period of the new established China and before the Reform and Opening-up, under the powerful collective national discourse, the subjectivity of female teachers is invisible and disabled; However, since the early days of Reform and Opening-up, the situation has changed and female teachers begin to awake, they begin to construct their subjectivity which differs from male discourse, but they are still trapped by traditional concepts which ruled by patriarchic national discourse; from the mid-1990s, on the one hand, the presence of their subjectivity is notable, they are deconstructing the patriarchic national discourse, on the other hand, the dilemma is still obvious that they are not able to free themselves utterly from the patriarchic discourse. To sum it up, the construction of female subjectivity under patriarchic discourse and themselves is still not well developed. We have to take into account their own experience and discourse in order to re-construct and change this situation. It is notable that Gender mainstreaming provides the possibility and condition to re-construct the female subjectivity. Nevertheless this requires more struggles from the females, the participation of more social forces and the cooperation of the social enviernment.
