Teachers'professional development is the basis for steady progress of a school and the assurance to improve the quality of education and nurture talents, in particular, rapid development of higher education in today's trend, the value of teachers' professional development is very important. As a new educational form, independent colleges have developed rapidly in recent years, and it attracts more and more attention of the government and the society naturally. In recent years, scholars have made many researches in teachers'professional development, but there is still a blank in the researches on teachers' professional development in independent colleges.Firstly, this dissertation analyzes the relative concept of teachers' professional development, summarizes the content and structure of independent college teachers' professional development from four aspects such as including professionalism, expertise, professional competence, professional ethics. Through the above mentioned analyze, the dissertation points out the necessity and feasibility of improving teachers' professional development in independent colleges. Currently, with the development of independent colleges, some apparent shortcomings have emerged in the teacher training and teachers' professional development, so the dissertation reveals the status quo and the problems from both internal and external aspects and provides the reasons for which.To promote teachers' professional development of independent college, we need to do some work both from improving external environment and triggering teachers' inner activeness. As to improving external environment, all of the improvement of national policy, mechanism, the school's internal management system of training system, the improvement of teaching and research environment affect the improvement of professionalism of teachers; as to teachers themselves should also establish a "self-improvement" notion to develop their own career. Additional, young teachers are the main force of independent colleges, so the dissertation puts forward some particular suggestions to improve the quality of young teachers from two angles like both schools and teachers.
