Personal, Social and Health Education(PSHE) was brought out in the early 1980's in Britain, it can promote the pupil's personal, social development, their healthy welfare as a social being, encourage them to acquire the knowledge, skill and attitude to lead confident, healthy and independent lives. It aims to help them to understand how they should be developed personally and socially, and to tackle many of the moral, social and cultural issues during their growing up. The curriculum of PSHE advocates"all-round development, return to life", it is a clear interpretation of education essence. The goal of PSHE is one of the value orientations in every country around the world, especially in China: the goal of elementary education is transferring. Through the presentation of definition of PSHE curriculum,the evloving background, targets, contents, implementations and related faculties, we can undertand PSHE curriculms symtermatically and thoroughly.This paper has four parts, stated as follows:Part I describes the definition of PSHE curriculum. Including: the constituent element of PSHE——Personal Education, Social Education and Health Education; the problems occurred while making a clear definition of PSHE, as well as exploring the relationship between personal, social and health education, finally the definition of PSHE curriculum was summed up based on some scholar's research.Part II analyzes the background factors which could promote the development of PSHE, these are: social requirement of economic crisis and moral decline in the 1970s, individual needs to enhance health and get happiness, the"post-modern"shift of curriculum paradigm, as well as other legislation and policy factors.Part III present the targets, contents, implementations and related faculties of PSHE curriculum, including: curriculum targets, provided by Qualifications and Curriculum Authority(QCA), analysis on the characteristic of curriculum goals, curricular contents which emphasize on knowledge and skills, variety of implementation methods, student-centered teaching methods, students-participated course evaluation and status quo of faculty and its training. During these discussions some case studies are presented.Part IV through the statements of the above-mentioned there chapters finally summarize the"all-round development, return to life"education philosophy of PSHE, its comprehensive feature, and some areas still need to be developed while being carried out.
