With education narrative Inquiry method, this paper chooses S high school as a case to study the school functions. Hope people have more vivid and clear understanding about school functions, and attempt it can guide the performance of S high school functions in theory.The specific contents of this article include the following four areas:First, the impression sketches of the S high school include four main segments. They are the impression outline, visual shock waves caused by lists of the eye-catching excellent performance, exciting meeting of parents, and understanding about the school members-"busy". These form initial understanding about S high school functions.Second, by analyzing stories of the S high school administrators, teachers and students, we can have further dept perception about S high school functions. The stories analysis of administrators mirrors that S school does its best to perform its functions and it is not easy. The stories analysis of teachers mirrors they are involuntarily busy, and the back of the school digital management is disregard for human. The stories analysis of students mirrors that many students choose S school for its proportion of students entering higher schools, graceful environment and strict manage. Rich and colorful activities are contrast to dull life. Teachers and students have their views for these.Third, explore the performance of the S high school. Specific ideas are as followings:Political, economic, and cultural functions are hidden. And its time of performance is longer. S high school is insufficient in fulfilling these functions, but due to fear of the school and students achievement, it carries out their functions within a certain limit. Similarly, other functions for country and society, community, teachers and students are put at edge. The education and selection function are the focus of S high school. However, education function is not real education. One-sided pursuit performance and enrollment rate is obvious, behind which is the pursuit of material interests. Only does it have an outstanding performance, higher enrollment rate, the government will pay more attention, give various honorary titles, which will get more support from government and society, will attract better students. Conversely, school with good hardware and software such as funding, excellent teachers and students will be "getting better and better".Fourth, based on the system analysis and summarization, the conclusions of this paper are formed. Under the direct or indirect control of the country, and under the influence of the market economy system, most people of S high school showed behaviors of quick success. Coupled with pragmatic values of the principal, the "single function-oriented" school functions are formed. Namely, performance and enrollment rate are oriented. Other functions are minor or serve selection function. Then the paper reflects on the contents and process of study. Finally, on the right performance of functions, the paper puts forward three proposals:changing concepts, changing institutional and upgrading qualities.
