We are facing such a globalization world, regarding the trend of globalization; it is discussed in the book "The world is flat" that the global correlation and distance are tighter and closer due to rapidly developed transportation system and Internet technology standardization. In the other words, along with the deepening and extension of the Internet, every corner of the world has been gradually connected together, therefore, the most expressing and most direct demand for today's society is such a talent who must have the global awareness. University Students are the nation's future important talent reserves, it is most important and urgency for them to develop their global awareness. At the same time, internet in modern society, as the most important medium to access information, is playing an irreplaceable role on cultivation of student's global awareness. Therefore, to explore whether or not university students have a better network literacy is particularly important accomplishment. Reside in these motivations, in this thesis, based on the survey information from university students of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications (BUPT), some recommendations regarding the current student's network literacy and global awareness are discussed. In specifically, the current situation and correlation between student self-cultivation on network literacy and global awareness are discussed from four aspects:study on internet application status among university students from different background, including age and gender; study on the current level of student self-cultivation on network literacy and global awareness; study on the relationship between the status of student using the internet and self-cultivation network literacy; study on the relationship between student self-cultivation network literacy and the global awareness. This thesis is divided into six sections. In Chapter 1, Introduction, the study background and research purpose of this thesis are discussed, three assumptions are introduced, some concepts associated with this thesis are defined, and finally the shortage of this thesis are described. In Chapter 2, literature review, all research literatures mainly associated with globalization, network literacy and global awareness are summarized. In Chapter 3, the study of overall design, the research process, statistical analysis methods and research tools, such as questionnaire instruction, are presented; questionnaire reliability and validity of statistical tests are conducted. Chapter 4, results and analysis of statistical data, is the core contents in this thesis. Firstly, a questionnaire survey data results obtained from university students are sorted, statistically collated and summarized. Secondly, by using the statistical analysis methods presented in Chapter 3, following differential analysis are conducted:the status of internet application by students with different background, the correlation among all variables such as the student network application status vs. their network literacy; the student network literacy vs. the status of global awareness, the student network literacy vs. their global awareness. In Chapter 5, the results and discussion, according to the statistical analysis results presented in Chapter 4, the mutual relevance between current student network literacy and global awareness are further analyzed. Analysis shows that: the phenomenon of using the internet among university students is already very common and university students are showing a high level of network literacy and global awareness. It is found that, the longer time and higher frequency on internet usage, the better network literacy, and then the stronger global awareness. In Chapter 6, Conclusions and Recommendations, overall above analysis are combined. In order for students to enhance the network literacy, a number of recommendations are presented to those who have lower level global awareness.
