Research Of Effective Examination Management System For Independent Colleges

Examinations and tests are important part of the teaching process in Higher education. They are essential ways to consolidate and test student's learning and main methods to conclude teaching comments and to test effectiveness of the new school-running mode. However, independent colleges, as a special mode in China, present special school-running orientation and Cultivation Object. Independent colleges aim to cultivate high quality-practical talents, thus the fundamental goal of examinations should be to promote the improvement of students' individual-development, self-growing and self-appreciation. Based on the consideration that how to make the exam system of an independent college more functional as to meet the Cultivation Object, systemic study on the examination system of an independent college is an improtant research topic due to its significance in the college's development.The present research has gone through three years, and has found a number of defects distributed in the management of examination, the quality of examination papers and question designs. Main causes are as below:Young teachers' lack of experience; Not enough self-possessed teachers or accumulation of teaching experience.To construct an effective management system of examination of an independent college, the present research, based on the Cultivation Object and Cultivation plans, clarifies the goal status of students, teachers, examination managers and examination environment.According to the goal status of an effective management system of an independent college, the present research put forward the management elements and technical indexes of operation from the following aspects:the construction of examination system, and the effective management of examination paper generation, examination modes, examination environment and grade assessments.Through systemic research, some innovative points are shown as below:1. Preliminary establishment of effective examination management system of independent colleges. The present research probes large-scale questionnaires among students of independent colleges. The goal status, elements and regulation ensuring of effective examination management of independent colleges.2. Proposition of evaluation system of examination papers and testing quality on the examination paper level. The present research presents a subjective evaluation indexes on the base of examination papers. Quantitative assessment indexes are designed, including the analysis method of average scores, diversity of question types, difficulty degree, validity, reliability and differentiation.
