Research Of Classical Course Plan In Engineering Universities

Curriculum plan embodies a university's educational concept and the personnel training goal. It is a key link to guarantee the personnel quality, as well as a breakthrough to promote teaching reforms. The quality of personnel training largely depends on the course content and the course structure .With the continuous deepening of higher education reforms, the research on course structure becomes more and more important.In recent years, the personnel comprehensive quality has been greatly influenced by the deficiency of classical education, which reflected both in university of arts and of science & engineering. Engineering university undertakes the task of training high-ability engineers in various industries for the society. The education, which only emphasizes on specialization, science or professionalization can not satisfy the demands of social development, nor can it adapt to the developing trend of higher education. Under the circumstances of economic globalization and the increasingly close international exchanges in politics & culture, the society's requirements for all-round person become more and more higher. Owing to a long-term affection by industrialization, engineering university stress too much on professional education, but neglects classical education and lacks necessary classical quality, causing the fact that the sight of trained person is limited within the fields of science & technology. So it's necessary for engineering university to put classical quality training at the important position, to train students'ability on situation consideration & control under the circumstances of times developing. From this aspect classical education, especially classical course is of importance. We can say that the success of classical education, as well as the quality of trained person directly lies in the set of classical courses in engineering university. Consequently, based upon the long-term goal of personnel training and the developing of higher education, constructing a system of scientific and reasonable classical courses is a necessity.In the first chapter, the author mainly explains the value of classical course. It explains the function and value of classical course upon the basis of basic connotation. The second chapter, explains the influence factors of classical course. The third chapter introduces the detail classical course plan of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (which is a famous American higher institution) and the course plan of South China University of Technology(which is a domestic pioneer in education reform ). The author also takes the classical courses plan of Shandong Jianzhu University as an example to explain the current situation of classical course plan in engineering universities, analyzes the existing problems and points out the inspiration of oversea course plans towards China. In the forth chapter, based on the national conditions and the characteristics of engineering university, the author discusses the scientific and reasonable classical course plan, and puts forward the concept, objective, principles, systematic framework, levels and implementing guarantee of classical course plan in engineering university. Thus a set of relatively scientific classical course system is theoretically constructed.The function of classical education depends on the course plan and course implement. Therefore, the classical course plan in higher education plays a determining role in training high-quality personnel. A scientific, systematic and reasonable classical course system is put forward herein, however problems may still exist during the practice, which needs continuous improvements by practice and through research., so as to promote the foundation of classical course system in engineering university which is suitable for our national conditions.
