"The Decision of Basic Education Reform and Development Proposed by the the State Council"clear the task of"quickly establish requirements of quality education in basic education curriculum", which opened the prelude of the eighth curriculum reform of basic education in June 2001.The basic education reform put forward new requirements for teachers'curriculum abilities. How to improve teachers'curriculum abilities is of safeguard to curriculum reform. What is the status about the development of teachers'curriculum abilities? What are the problems of the development about teachers'curriculum abilities? Which is the way and strategies to develop teachers'curriculum abilities? These are urgently needed in-depth study.This study synthesized the previous research to definite the teachers'curriculum abilities; explored the structure of the teachers'curriculum abilities based on Taylor's curriculum theory and Doll's curriculum theory, then constructed questionnaire of"The Survey of the Teachers'Curriculum Abilities"; Analyzed the present situation of the teachers'curriculum abilities about ordinary high schools in Guangzhou, refereed to the stages of the teachers'curriculum abilities on teaching standing by the SPSS; analyzed the problems about the development of teachers'curriculum abilities through the interviews to find out the strategies to expedite development.This study concluded that:Firstly, the teachers'curriculum abilities are found to increase with the teaching standing;Secondly, the teachers'curriculum abilities is better-developed in ordinary high school in Guangzhou;Thirdly, the development of the teachers'curriculum abilities present some problems in ordinary high school in Guangzhou;Fourthly, the teachers'curriculum abilities is developed mainly on the stage of 1-5 teaching standing;Fifthly, there are many strategies to promote the teachers'curriculum abilities which are to definite of the curriculum sense, to encourage teachers to participate in curriculum practice, to provide ownibearing support to develop teachers'curriculum abilities, to provide training and continuing education environment and conditions.
