The trend of the reform and development for the present-day higher education is to strengthen the humanities quality education of the university students. Humanities quality education serves the functions of guiding the principles of value, providing spiritual power and aesthetics, and promoting innovation. It is of great significance to undergo humanities quality education in agricultural universities. The agricultural universities in China have been undergoing the humanities quality education since 1990s, but some factors have existed:restrictions from the educational system, misleading of the educational concepts, negative influences from the market economy, weak foundation of the students, the poor teaching environment and unreasonable course setting, and a lack of humanities environment. The factors lead to the weak humanities quality education in agricultural universities, and the overall low humanities quality level of their students. That not only restricts the process and development of humanities quality education, but also affects the promotion of the quality of the education.In the current thesis, the connotation and significance of humanities quality education are firstly discussed, on the basis of which questionnaires to the students and interviews with the teachers are performed. Then, the current situation, the existing problems and their reasons of humanities quality education are analyzed. Lastly, the strategies and suggestions of the humanities quality education are provided. The thesis consists of five parts:Part One is the introduction part. The background and the significance of the current research are introduced, such as overall description of the concerned researches in China and from abroad, the methodologies, and the innovations.Part Two is about the connotation and significance humanities quality education. The focus is on the connotation and functions of humanities quality education. Such notions as humanities, quality, humanities quality, and humanities quality education are clearly defined. The contents, the functions and the significance of humanities quality education are made clear.Part Three is the investigation and analysis of the current situation of the humanities quality education in agricultural universities. The case study is undergone with Sichuan Agricultural University. The factors restricting the humanities quality education in agricultural universities are analyzed. After the concerned data are analyzed, a conclusion is reached:the humanities quality of the students in agricultural universities is not optimistic and the humanities quality education in agricultural universities is weak.Part Four is the strategies to strengthen the humanities quality education in agricultural universities. The strategies to implement humanities quality education in agricultural universities in China are set up. They are, to introduce the beneficial experiences of humanities quality education form abroad, to make clear the objective and contents, to set up a reasonable course system, to train a high-level teaching staff and to further search for new ways and methods.Part Five is the conclusion. The research contents are summarized. The insufficiencies are pointed out. The further research directions are made clear.
