The substance of competitions between countries is human competitions. So in modern society with rapid development in science and technology, the literacy of talents especially the importance of scientific literacy is prominent. Countries around the world have developed a series of policies to improve people's scientific literacy training, the Chinese government also actively committed to improving the scientific literacy of all the people. In academia, there are many theories on scientific literacy, but the status of middle school students'scientific literacy and the researches on cultivating scientific literacy in subjects is rare. Mathematical Olympiad education, as an integral part of mathematics education, has many special qualities such as arousing interest of young people in Mathematics, inspiring talents of young people in Mathematics, cultivating thinking abilities of young people, discovering science and technology talent reserve forces, is an effective way and mean to cultivate middle school students'scientific literacy.Firstly, This paper discusses the importance of scientific literacy, based on the characteristics of the Mathematical Olympiad, analyzes the reasons that Mathematical Olympiad is regarded as a mean of cultivating students'scientific literacy, proposes research methods based on the previous research study. Secondly, this paper conducts a detailed discussion on scientific literacy and scientific literacy education, aimed at clarifying the content and the nature of scientific literacy and scientific literacy education, giving theoretical guidance to improving students' scientific literacy by Mathematical Olympiad. In the third chapter, this paper has a detailed discussion on the nine relationships between Mathematical Olympiad and scientific literacy. In the fourth chapter, the research of the Mathematical Olympiad impacting on middle school students'scientific literacy is to confirm whether Mathematical Olympiad has a natural role in the promotion of students scientific literacy, results of the survey make people content. Chapter 5 makes a conclusion on the basis of previous research and makes a discussion on how to improve middle school students'scientific literacy by Mathematical Olympiad.Students are the country's hope of the future, the importance of their scientific literacy training has become a consensus.This article trys to make exploratory study and do something for improving middle school students'scientific literacy by Mathematical Olympiad.
