The Research Of College Counselors On Mental Ability Structure Of Psychological Crisis Intervention

Along with the pace of the reform and opening up, economic globalization, college students have more and more chance to contact with the society and world. In such a pluralistic society of ideas, social pressures, college students who are being psychological maturity are facing many of the ideological and mental and physical problems, such as career planning and development issues. Troubled by these issues, there are some students can not adjust their attitudes, do not take the initiatives to turn to others and ultimately become tragedies. Shoulder education college counselors educating people, education and service, management responsibility for educating people.University counselor shoulders the responsibilities of educating, managing, serving college students. However, university counselors do not identify and judge mental crisis well. And they are vulnerable to judge these problems wrongly. The ways and means of responding of psychological crisis are single, simple. University counselors have irrational knowledge structure. Their specialization is not strong. Their educational philosophy is out of season. Their functions and responsibilities of work is not clear, routine work is a heavy pressure. These problems constrain the mental crisis intervention work of university counselor.The purpose of this study is to explore the basic ability structure of university counselor which is in the psychological crisis intervention of university students.This study adopts three methods—literature review, interview and questionnaire survey. And adopts qualitative and quantitative means to study and establish the basic ability of psychological crisis intervention of university counselors.Through various views and modifications, finally form a survey named—"The abilities structure of university counselors in psychological crisis intervention", which contains 48 items. Through the reliability and validity analysis, it is proved that the survey is up to the required standard. Then through the factor and fusion analysis, these 48 items can divide into 4 categories. They are: Personality, Empathy, Ability and Knowledge. Selected the first letters of the four words, it forms PEAK model which is the core competencies of university counselor in psychological crisis intervention. Through the study the writer gives some suggestions. Universities should train the university counselors some knowledge of education and psychology. And university counselor should learn more knowledge of education and psychology in order to improve their work in psychological crisis intervention on the students. Finally, universities strengthen their building the team of university counselors.
