Improving the ability of the headmasters'leadership, the schools'P.E. performance and teenagers'health in elementary and secondary schools, and cultivating builders and successors in an all-round development morally, intellectually and physically are of vital significance in carrying out quality education, perfecting school P.E. management mechanism, integrating school P.E. manpower resources, constructing the harmonious school P.E. environment and achieving school physical education goals.Based on literature, interviews and questionnaires, focusing on the headmasters in elementary and secondary schools, this paper researches and analyses the relationship between school headmasters'leadership behavior and school P.E. performance by using some relative theories and methods in Leadership Science, Management Science, Sports Science, Statistics, etc.Research results show that in school sports the headmasters'leadership behavior mainly manifests: management concept and target behavior, democratic management behavior, care and inspiring behavior and laissez-faire and arbitrary behavior. The four aspects of headmasters'leadership behavior can comprehensively reflect the headmasters'leadership in school sports. This paper based on logical induction method indicates that school P.E. performance index system includes: the school P.E. overall performance, the school P.E. status, the school P.E. guiding ideology, the school P.E. purpose and tasks, the school P.E. development planning, the school P.E. management institution and rules and regulations, the curriculum of Physical Education and Health, the school P.E. fields and equipments, expense, the school students'health level, the quantity and professional level of the school PE teachers, and their job satisfaction. From the experts, it shows that the above index system can reflect school P.E. performance. Based on the investigation of the P.E. performance in elementary and secondary schools in Shanxi Province, nearly 60% elementary and secondary schools have favorable self-evaluation in their P.E. performance.By using the method of regression analysis, this paper verifies the relationship between the four aspects of headmasters'leadership behavior and the school P.E. performance. That is, the headmasters'management concept and target behavior positively correlates with the school P.E. performance, the headmasters'democratic management behavior positively correlates with the school P.E. performance, the headmasters'care and inspiring behavior positively correlates with the school P.E. performance, and the headmasters'laissez-faire and arbitrary behavior negatively correlates with the school P.E. performance. According to these, this paper presents some suggestions on improving headmasters'leadership behavior and enhancing school P.E. performance in elementary and secondary schools.
