In recent years,with the help of the development of the society,Chinese families' emphasis on education,the expectation of the society for primary and secondary school teachers is getting higher and higher.The scope of work undertaken by teachers is also growing wider,in addition to their own teaching tasks,teachers have to undertake scientific research papers,higher-level questionnaire,formal inspection and other tasks.Besides teaching,teachers have to participate in various meetings and activities irrelevant to education and teaching.These unreasonable non teaching workload increase the burden of teachers.Under the background that the problem of teachers' professional burden has been widely concerned by the state and society,academic circles have increasingly concentrated on the reduction of teachers' burden in each school stage.From the dimension of school headmasters,this paper attempts to explore whether headmasters' leadership style affects teachers' workload,which kind of teachers' workload will be affected,and the relationship between headmasters' leadership style and teachers' workload,so as to provide a strategic dimension for reducing the burden of primary and secondary school teachers and improving headmasters' leadership style,It also puts forward how the headmasters' leadership style can better reduce teachers' workload and alleviate teachers' burden.Firstly,this paper analyzes the headmasters' leadership style and its management mode through many domestic and foreign documents,and studies the impact of headmasters' leadership style on school development and teachers' workload.A large amount of dissertations show that headmasters' transformational leadership style and headmasters' transactional leadership style developed by the leadership contingency theory have attracted much more attention in the academic field of education.However,there are few systematic studies on whether the style of the school headmasters' leadership will affect the working time of teachers or cause the increase of teachers' workload.Therefore,this paper takes these two leadership styles as important analysis tools to affect teachers' workload.On the foundation of what mentioned before,it's theoretically valuable and practically significant to attach importance to the objective workload of teachers under the influence of the leadership of the principal.This master's thesis puts forward six basic hypotheses: 1)The headmasters' transformational leadership style has a strongly positive influence on the teaching workload;2)The headmasters' transformational leadership style has a strongly positive influence on the workload of teachers' scientific research;3)The headmasters' transformational leadership style has a strongly positive influence on the workload which is unrelated to teaching;4)The headmasters' transactional leadership style has a strongly positive influence on teaching workload;5)The headmasters' transactional leadership style has a strongly positive influence on the workload of teachers' research;6)The headmasters' transactional leadership style has a strongly positive influence on the workload which is unrelated to teaching.From May 2021 to August 2021,the author selected three schools at the same level in primary schools,junior high schools and senior high schools in J District of Shanghai for research,and carried out empirical research through questionnaire survey and structured interview,and used SPSS 23.0 to make descriptive statistical analysis on the headmasters' leadership style and teachers' workload of each school,Then the author analyzes the correlation between leadership style and teachers' workload,as well as the linear regression relationship between headmasters' leadership style and teachers' workload.Through correlation analysis,the author analyzed the nature and degree of the correlation between the two headmasters' leadership styles and the variables of each dimension of teachers' workload,and then the regression equation between the variables is further determined through regression analysis.Therefore,in the data analysis stage,firstly,this master's thesis carries out the correlation analysis between the headmasters' leadership style and teachers' workload,after completing the correlation analysis,confirms the existence of correlation analysis,then it carries out the regression analysis between the two styles,and finally it arranges the interview content to analyze the reasons and countermeasures.This study found that transformational leadership style has a positive impact on teachers' scientific research workload among three stages,and this style will increase teachers' scientific research workload.The headmasters' transformational leadership styles in primary and junior high schools will increase teachers' workload which is unrelated to teaching.There is a relatively weak linear regression relationship between high school headmasters' transactional leadership style and teaching workload,that is,high school headmasters' transactional leadership style will slightly increase teachers' teaching workload.However,the headmasters' transactional leadership in primary and junior high school has no impact on teachers' workload.Therefore,among the six hypotheses set by the author,only H2 has been confirmed,that is,the headmasters' transformational leadership style has a significant positive impact on the teachers' scientific research workload.The more headmasters adopt transformational leadership style,the greater the teachers' scientific research workload is.H3 can only be established in primary school and junior high school,that is,the transformational leadership style of headmasters in primary school and junior high school has a strongly positive influence on teachers' workload which is unrelated to the teaching,that is,when headmasters prefer to adopt more transformational leadership style,it will promote primary schools' and junior high schools' teachers to spend working time on workload which is unrelated to their teaching,such as receiving superior inspection and participating in political learning.Although H4 is established,it has no significant impact,that is,the transactional leadership style of high school headmasters has a weak impact on teachers' teaching workload.H1,H5 and H6 are not tenable.That is to say,the headmasters' transformational leadership style has nothing to do with teachers' teaching workload and will not have an impact on teachers' teaching workload.In addition,the headmasters' transactional leadership style has nothing to do with teachers' scientific research workload and workload which is unrelated to teaching,and this style will not have a positive and significant impact on teachers' scientific research workload and workload that is unrelated to the teaching.Therefore,in order to reduce teachers' scientific research workload and workload unrelated to the teaching,this master's thesis puts forward some suggestions on the transformation of headmasters' leadership style.First of all,in the process of the transformation of headmasters' leadership style,headmasters who adopt more transformational leadership style can clearly describe the educational vision and the aims of school development to teachers,and they are inclined to demonstrate the value and significance of education,so that they will complete the common teaching mission with teachers.Furthermore,teachers' work efficiency will be higher through this leadership style.But this will also cause problems: some teachers will think that the headmaster will forcibly provide more opportunities and conditions to increase their workload.However,some teachers,especially middle-level teachers,teachers who are in charge of teaching and research and teachers who prepare to assess professional titles,will enjoy it.Actually,most teachers feel that the huge scientific research workload is exhausting under the leadership of headmasters with this style,Therefore,this paper hopes that headmasters can pay more attention to the needs of every teacher in a democratic form,and they are encouraged to arrange opportunities and platforms according to teachers' personal wishes and professional pursuit.The interview results also show that the contingent reward in transactional leadership will enhance teachers' satisfaction.This means that headmasters can combine the advantages of transactional leadership technology and the artistry of transformational leadership to form a mixed leadership style.Due to teachers' different pursuit of distribution of work,the headmasters can also help teachers improve their time management ability through overall training,so as to achieve the balance between the maximization of teachers' work supply and the optimization of school development.
