With the social change of the 21 st century,school education is also experiencing great changes.The society entitles education with more responsibility,puts more hope in it,and also raises higher requirements upon the social character of headmaster.That is,headmasters,the core characters of school reform,are not only the supervisors of a school,but also leaders and educators.Headmasters should have a good mastery of educational leadership theories,which help them with their self-education and leadership practice.Headmasters should promote their leadership abilities based on the needs of specialization,to meet the needs of school reform.The research aims at studying the up-to-date leadership abilities of headmasters to meet changes and to promote the reform of schools.The research also analyzes the leadership abilities of some headmasters both at home and abroad,and in Songjiang District,aiming to enhance the leadership abilities of the headmasters in Songjiang.The essay is put into four parts,the main contents of viewpoints of which are listed separately as follows:Introduction: It introduces the motivation and background of the research,clarify the aims and contents of the research and points out the method,value and new viewpoints,etc.Chapter One: This chapter elaborates the development of educational leadership theories,especially the origin,contents and meanings of the seven most valuable theories,laying the foundation of this essay.Chapter Two: Cases.The writer,after a number of surveys and interviews,choosesfour representative schools and their headmasters as examples,and analyzes their leadership abilities as well as conclude experiences,laying the practical foundation for the research.Chapter Three: Research on headmasters of overseas schools on a macro level and ones of domestic schools on a micro level,providing evidence for the essay.Chapter Four: Suggestions that the writer thinks are feasible for promoting the leadership abilities of school headmasters in Songjiang.The writer points out that relevant authorities should give support on management level and headmasters themselves should devote their efforts.
