Independent college is an important component of Chinese private education. It has been ten years since its inception. Through the decade of development, independent colleges have created a number of graduates. However, when these graduates compete with the graduates of public universities, higher vocational schools or technical secondary schools in the job market, it encounters a situation that they are not up to those above while also not above those below. The strength and weakness of the employment competence is an unavoidable question in every independent college for it is not only the ultimate embodiment of the college's comprehensive competitiveness but also one of the criteria to evaluate whether the college can accommodate itself to.social development and educational demand. The employment competitiveness of independent college graduates can be affected by many factors which, generally speaking, can be explored from two aspects. Subjectively, the employment competitiveness of independent college students is influence by their own ideals, beliefs, career planning consciousness, psychological quality and employment motives. Objectively, the employment competitiveness of independent college students is still influenced by the college-running conceptions, developmental objectives, talent training specifications, college-running features, teaching quality and social environment.Since independent college is hitherto not fully recognized by the society due to many factors, its graduates encounter much more difficulties than the graduates of public universities in the job market. Therefore, to advance independent college graduates'competitiveness in employment is not only the core issue that independent college should adapt to the reform of higher education, market economy development, and global economic integration, but also the strategic measure to ensure independent college to open to the society operating autonomously according to law and seek survival and development in the increasingly fierce competition. The topic-the analysis of employment competitiveness of independent college graduates is put forward under the above mentioned background. Based on the systematic study of the theories of the independent college graduates'employment competitiveness, this thesis, by drawing on the predecessor's theoretical methods and research findings, construes the current employment situation of independent college graduates and its influencing factors and formation causes. It also explores the key problems which have great impact on the employment of independent college graduates and puts forth the clues and countermeasures for boosting the competitiveness of independent college graduates in employment. This paper is consisted of three parts. The first part is concerning the connotation and research significance of the employment competitiveness of the independent college graduates. By sampling the employment status of the students in Chongqing Normal University Foreign Trade and Business College graduated in 2009, this section analyzes the employment status quo and competitiveness of the independent college graduates and excavates the connotation of employment competitiveness of them. In this way, the research direction and significance are affirmed. The author of this paper assumes that because of the lower social approval and misunderstanding of the employing units, there is distinct employment discrimination. Besides, the students'majors are not widely adapted to the society, thus resulting in the narrow employment field. Moreover, the jobs they found lack stability, which causes the frequent change of job. The author of this thesis still holds the view that the crucial reason of the social misunderstanding is due to the student source. The fundamental cause of the development of a thing lies in its internal factors. The independent college graduate group has four general characters. The first character is that these students have rich information and practical ability but poor academic foundation and lower study efficiency. The second character is that these students have active thinking and unique personality but poorer habit and immature mentality and insufficient understanding of the society. The third character is that they have better-off and well-connected families but strong independence of family and weak will for the obstacles and high expectation from the society. The fourth character is that they have noble ideals and can-do confidence but poor crisis awareness and indifferent employment view and obscure life plan. This part is the background and realistic basis, foregrounding the commonness analysis of the internal factors of the employment subject. The second part is the analysis of the subjective and objective factors which influence the employment competitiveness of independent college graduates. Based on the analysis of the current situation of employment of the independent college graduates, this paper further analyzes the. root which influences the employment of the independent college graduates. The author deems that because of the differences of such elements as growth environment, academic foundation and psychological distinction, the independent college students are short of crisis awareness and spirit of arduous struggle, therefore they can not form a correct view of choosing a career. Graduates are also vulnerable to the well-off family environment, conventional idea of employment and social unhealthy tendencies, thus when they try to find a job, it is easy to generate some unhealthy psychological attitudes such as anxiety, self-abasement, irritability, unrealistic comparison, and fanaticism. In addition, there are other problems which have impact on the employment of independent college students. For example, the independent college itself is not clear about its school-running orientation and does not have evident school-running features. Besides, the disconnection between teaching and practice and the imperfection of the employment system also influence the graduates to some degree. The author still believes that because of the public misconception, rigid traditional thoughts and school-running environment, it is difficult to create a good employment environment for the independent college graduates, thus affecting graduates' exertion of the employment competitiveness. The second part is the most important and difficult point of this paper. Logically speaking, this part is the'cause'of the second part. The third part is concerned about the idea of how to improve the employment competitiveness: of independent college graduates. According to the analysis of the status quo and theoretical basis which influence the employment competitiveness of independent college graduates, this paper proposes solutions to solve the employment problems. The author propounds that from the subjective point of view independent college students should redouble their efforts to meet the demands of social development. They should make good use of the various conditions to improve their comprehensive quality and cultivate good psychological qualities including honing the perseverance, emphasizing the labor skills, and fortifying the professional ability. From the objective point of view, independent college itself should adjust its school-running ideas and orientations and constantly adhere to the market as guide to formulate scientific training plan and establish scientific long-term employment guidance and service system for the students. At the same time, the graduates should put parents into long-effect mechanism of employment and well utilize the family connection and resources to get employment. Finally, it also needs to correctly guide public opinion to create a good employment environment. This part is the stay point also the destination of this thesis.
