Use SNMP Which Based On Linux Building Moderate And Small Scale Enterprise Network Management System

The present-day network is characterized by its fast speed and stablilty , and the expansion of scale with the fast-speed development of network hardware . However , under the condition that the appliance of various networks is more and more common , such as the gradually accepted behaviors that the electronic commerce's expansion , the on-line payment , trade and serve ,and the utilization of CIMS , ERP , CNR in enterprise management ,it is still a problem for net administrators that how to guarantee the network's availability and stability .Moderate and small scale enterprise nets , which were the key joints and constitutes of information system , has got a considerable progess in scale and appliance with the development of network technique . On the other hand , subjected to many reasons of financing , technique …… etc , network management could not get a synchronous development of network scale and appliance . There even have some vacancy . For moderate and small enterprise nets , imperfect in network management means that it can't guarantee the normal operation , even affects the enterprise itself . The effective management of network is powerful to guarantee the validity and stability of network operation . SNMP is a very nice protocol with its strong functor of network management , and become a virtual standard in this regard . Mang commercial network management systems , such as HP Open View , are based on it . However , the high price, the universally existing failing , prevents its appliance in the moderate and small scale enterprise nets .This paper proposes a solution : Construct and carry out network management system with basic functions in Linux platform , which is free of GPL-based SNMP (Linux- affiliated or independent software tools and components ) . The author has made lots of efforts in this respect for it is an experiment of significant utility value to construct a network management system with minimum input .This system is not as good as that of commercial version in terms of sever functions , but in view of the low cost , the functions and application scope , it deserves adoption on an extensive scale . furthermore , it provides a new solution option to network management .
