A Study Of Duan Yucai 's Theory Of "Rhyme Turn"

Rhyme categories transformation韵转, in this paper, refers to the phoneticconversion between different categories, which concludes two parts, the theory ofheyun合韵and yinzhuan音转, of the study by Duan Yucai, a scholar who was thefirst to propose that the archaic Chinese phonology concepts of the absolute harmonyof rhymes in verses of pre-Qin and the same phonological-symbol belongs to thesame rhyme category, by which Duan put forward a innovational interpretation ofheyun to clarify the metric exceptions in the verses. Besides the pure phonologystudy, Duan adopt the ideas of heyun and yinzhuan in the traditional exegeticsanalysis, the annotation of Shuowenjiezi, to gain a description of the complicatedphonological phenomenon, which sorted from the amassed material for ages, andattempted to conduct a more profound study of the relations between different rhymecategories. There will be a relatively comprehensive collection of the phoneticconversion material in Liushuyinyunbiao and the annotation of Shuowenjiezi and aanalysis made by the rhyme categories of Duan in this paper.It can be divided into three parts. The first part is introduction. The second part is thebody of the paper, including the literature review, the concrete analysis of data ofrhyme categories transformations and the conclusion. The third part is appendixes，which refer to the material of rhyme categories transformation， andacknowledgements.
