| Duanzhu extension is a supplement to Duan Yucai’s further development of character meaning or word meaning based on the interpretation of Shuowen.Duanzhu has more than a thousand extensions,not only critically inheriting the study of "original meaning" in Shuowen,but also connecting the relationship between the interpretation of Shuowen and its developmental interpretation.This article selects a total of 335 Duanzhu extension items that contain the interpretation content of Shuowen from the Duanzhu extension items.As the main research object of this article,specific and targeted classification research is carried out from their form,content,methods,method characteristics,and other aspects.This article contains five parts: "Introduction","Overview of Duanzhu Extension Items Including the Interpretation of Shuowen ","The Content and Style of Duanzhu’s Extended Entries Containing the Interpretation of Shuowen ","Duanzhu’s Extended Entry Including the Interpretation of Shuowen Interpretation Path and Method" and "Conclusion".Introduction section.Classify and summarize the current research status of Duanzhu extension items,and elaborate on the purpose,content,and other issues that need to be explained in this article.The first chapter contains a summary of Duanzhu extension items including the interpretation of Shuowen.This section starts from the Duanzhu extended items and the Duanzhu extended items with the interpretation of Shuowen,analyzing the form,interpretation characteristics,and distribution oftheir extended items.Summarize its formal characteristics in the form of "one article,one place","one place,one interpretation",and "the beginning of the explanatory text";From its distribution,it can be seen that the extended entries of Duanzhu containing the interpretation of Shuowen involve a wide range of radicals,accounting for28.5% of the 540 parts of Shuowen.They are concentrated in the high-frequency and sub highfrequency radicals of Shuowen,accounting for 89.3% and 73.7%,respectively.For example,commonly used high-frequency radicals such as "ren part","mi part","mu part","ye part","cao part","yi part","che part","shui part","jin part",and other commonly used highfrequency radicals.In the low-frequency and sub low-frequency radicals,the number of involved parts decreased in a cliff like manner,accounting for 15.3% and 26.3% respectively,reflecting the influence of word formation ability and word usage frequency on the development of Duanzhu extension.The second chapter contains the content and style of Duanzhu’s extended entries containing the interpretation of Shuowen.This chapter consists oftwo parts: One is to compare the intuitive relationship between the extended content of Duanzhu,which includes the interpretation of Shuowen,and the interpretation content of Shuowen from an external perspective.Duanzhu’s extended content has the most additions and deletions compared to the interpretation content of Shuowen,with a total of 256 places,reflecting Duan Yucai’s "citation and extension" based on the interpretation of Shuowen.In addition,it was found that the extended content of Duanzhu contained a majority of "fan" clauses,totaling 225,indicating that the extended interpretation of Duanzhu had universal and regular characteristics,or that there were conclusive extended interpretations among them;The second is to sort out the terminology styles of extended terms,which are rich and diverse,with a total of 10 types of extended term formats.On the basis of their richness and diversity,they still have distinct Duanzhu characteristics.That is,the "extended...is..." type format has the highest number of formats,with a total of225,followed by the "extended...date..." type format,with a total of49 formats,and the "extended(meaning)" type without terminology features,Constitute the most representative terminology format.In addition,the occurrence frequency of the characters "fan" and "all" is extremely high,revealing the universal interpretation extended by Duanzhu.From the use of extended terminology styles,it can be seen that the rich and diverse terminology styles of Duanzhu’s extended terms,including the interpretation of Shuowen,reflect the content and method characteristics of Duanzhu’s extended interpretation.The third chapter contains Duanzhu’s extended entry including the interpretation of Shuowen interpretation path and method.This section looks at the content through external forms,examining the development path of extending form and meaning,as well as the ways and methods of extending interpretation from two perspectives: the development of the connection between word meaning and word meaning in the extended items in the explanatory paragraphs of Shuowen,and the methods of explaining meaning.From the perspective of the extended interpretation path,re-examine the relationship between "form meaning" and "the meaning of a word " in paragraph annotations.Duanzhu’s extended interpretation path mainly focuses on "meaning extension",with a total of 262 locations;In terms of explanation methods,there are mainly two forms: direct explanation by Duan Yucai and citation explanation,with 191 and 197 statistics respectively.Under the direct interpretation type,Duanzhu’s extended content is the most common compared to the interpretation content in Shuowen,with a total of 144 additions and deletions,with the number of additions and deletions containing the word "fan" being the first,reflecting Duanzhu’s "extension and extension" based on the interpretation of Shuowen,which has been elucidated;Under the type ofcitation and explanation,a single interpretation often cites multiple scripture biographies and annotations,with a total of 26 types and 197 references cited under 157 extensions,reflecting the breadth and relative concentration of its illustrative interpretation.The citation and annotation are mainly based on the pre Qin scriptures,with "Wujing" being the most common,especially Shijing being the first.Conclusion section.Summarize the main conclusions in the article,propose prospects for the study of Duanzhu’s extended items,and summarize the shortcomings.By categorizing and organizing the extended items of Duanzhu that contain the interpretation of Shuowen one by one,the characteristics of Duanzhu’s extended items are explained from two aspects: external form and extended interpretation content,in order to explore the characteristics and methods of Duanzhu’s "extension" and gain a new understanding of Duanzhu’s extension.On the one hand,Duan Yucai revised and supplemented the textual exegesis based on Xu Shen’s Shuowen,following the traditional interpretation method ofexegesis,with a clear understanding ofform,sound,and meaning;On the other hand,Duan Yucai broke through the isolated interpretation of traditional exegetics and turned to a comprehensive exploration of the word meaning system,connecting and revealing the logical relationship between form,meaning,and meaning,allowing us to have a broader and more complete understanding
