A Study On Dai 's Personal Pronouns In Xishuangbanna

Personal pronoun is the core words of the language vocabulary system basic vocabulary, it is used in the daily communication very frequently. There are a large numbers of personal pronouns in Xishuangbanna Dai language, and its usage is very complex. Except of the first person pronouns、the second personal pronoun> the third person pronouns, it can be classified with different standards, just as the personal pronoun which formed by the feudal hierarchy and the affinity relationship. And it is very special in semantics and pragmatics. Based on the investigation of the Xishuangbanna Dai language, we can make a detailed description on the synchronic level of the word structure, semantic, grammatical characteristics, and compare it with other four major Dai dialects. Analyzing the new corpus which obtain from the field investigation, describes the new look of the modern Dai language’s personal pronoun system, and discussing the three stages in the development of the personal pronoun in Xishuangbanna Dai language.This paper is divided into seven parts:Introduction:Introducing the topics of this study cause, significance, the basic information of Dai language, literature review, research scope, research methods and the theory.Chapter1:The system overview of the Xishuangbanna Dai language’s personal pronoun. Introducing it in three aspects:three personal pronouns, the personal pronoun which produced by the social hierarchy, and the personal pronoun which used in the sangha and the laity.Chapter2:Discuss the structure of the Xishuangbanna Dai language’s personal pronouns. Analyzing the morpheme word and combination in single-morpheme word and compound word, and exploring its origin and development.Chapter3:Analyzing the grammatical functions of the personal pronoun. Discussing the role that the personal pronoun play in a sentence, and introducing plural form of the personal pronoun, one word with singular and plurality form, the subordinate structure, and other grammatical features.Chapter4:The evolution of the personal pronoun. Comparing and analyzing the relative languages and dialects, explore the three stages of development of Xishuangbanna Dai language’s personal pronouns, on the basis of the description to analysis the characteristics of the development, and the causes.Chapter5:The comparison of personal pronouns between Xishuangbanna Dai language and other dialect. Comparing Xishuangbanna Dai language with Dehong Dai language, Xinping Dai language, Jinping Dai language, analyze the differences between them, emphasizing the characteristics of Xishuangbanna Dai language’s personal pronouns, and analyzing the cause of it in social and historical aspects.Chapter6:Conclusion. Summarize the full text. Point out the value of this paper, and presents the inadequacies and the need for further research.
