As a kind of everlasting popular literature, romance fiction flourished in Hong Kong in the1960s and1970s, which was the most prominent phenomenon in the development of popular literature in Hong Kong. Female romance writers in Hong Kong, represented by Yi Shu, Li Bihua and Liang Fengyi, strived to create romantic fictions with an awakening attitude of modern female intellectuals. Their works had produced a strong social influence due to the social reality, the avant-grade feminist consciousness and the profound gender relations revealed in them. These booming romantic fictions had replaced the new martial arts novels in1950s and1960s, become a symbol of the development of contemporary popular fictions in Hong Kong, and created the brilliance of the contemporary Hong Kong feminist literature. With the reform and opening-up as well as the rapid development of the mainland economy, contemporary Hong Kong romance fictions were introduced into the mainland in1970s and1980s, which quickly swept and were even called the textbooks of white-collar females. Based on a thorough reading of the works of these writers, from a modern perspective, this book carries out a carding and analysis of the modern development context of contemporary romantic fictions, profoundly analyzes the new modernity revealed in the creative mind, writing position and exhibition content of contemporary Hong Kong romance writers, and investigates how these romance fictions as a unique discourse get involved in the modernity construction of the entire contemporary Hong Kong literature and how these writers inject strong political, economic, social and human factors into the romance framework to constantly improve the level of contemporary popular romantic literature in Hong Kong and to explore the source of the unique charm of the Hong Kong romance fictions that are popular in Hong Kong, Taiwan and the mainland as well as the significance behind it.The book is divided into five chapters.
