As a polite language, thanking is frequently used in our daily life. In the process of use, it has a set of invisible rule."It doesn’t need to thank for great kindness" and "Drips of beneficent water must be repaid with overflowing fountains of gratitude". People are familiar with the two proverbs. But behind the simple words, it has a deeper cultural connotations. As a simple terms, thank language is common used with people. But in the process of using it, international students still have some phenomenon of inappropriateness and misunderstanding. In the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language, it has some enlightenment to the teachers, students and teaching methods.Thank language means appreciating to others’ good help and the expression of thanks, main thank language can be divided into direct and indirect two types. In the direct thanking, it not only has the direct expression form of "thanks", but also has the type of adding other ingredients. For example, in the form of adverbs as adverbial before thanking, the form of adding complement and object after thank word, thank word overlapping forms, direct and indirect thanking combined form. Indirect thanking has five forms:apologizing, praising, caring, commitment and blaming. In the process of expressing gratitude to others, thank language use more indirect thanking. Thanks language not only has the pragmatic functions of gratitude, but also can be used to representing refusal and satire in daily communication. Thank-expressing replies is responding to thank language that based on the language of polite language, its main function is to show politeness. The using of thank language is influenced by social relations, the degree of help and politeness principle. In the process of communication, the more close, the less direct thanking using. And the more deeper help, the more sincerer thanking.Thank language is indispensable to daily life of courtesy. However, in the process of thanking communication, foreign students still have misunderstanding and conflict. Based on it, through to the teaching material of appreciation and students using in daily life. I found that in the teaching material, direct thanking especially "thanks" occupy the largest proportion. While the indirect thanking just has the only type for apology. At the same time, the thank language and thank-expressing replies is not directly proportional from the statistics.And thank language function is mainly to express thanks, rejective and ironic function accounted for just a little. In the process of thank language analysis of foreign students, I found that students in thanking communication process can use inappropriate thank language, also can appear to misunderstanding others who use thank language. This is because that in the using of the expressions of gratitude, the students is affected by the way of thinking, social norms and values influence.The phenomenon of students’s improper thanking using and misunderstanding to others, it has a certain significance in teaching Chinese as a foreign language. As an important resource for teachers in teaching Chinese as a foreign language. First of all, the teachers should have the perfect language skills and knowledge of intercultural communication. Only in this way, they can give timely guidance when the students have some problems. At the same time, as the teaching work of the demonstrator should also have the perfect language communicative ability. Students in the thanking communication process should be good at discovering the differences between each other and being able to understand the differences, eventually be seasoned with this difference. In the teaching, from two aspects of teaching principles and teaching methods. The structure, function, application of culture in recent decades has been advocating the principle of combining the classroom teaching. Also we should establish the student centered principle in classroom teaching, for the expressions of thank language, the rules of using it must be taught clearly. By the context of thank language teaching in the class so that students have a deeper understanding of thanking.
