Meanwhile, in the review <Why Africa>1, the ivorian artistFrederic Bruly Bouabre declares:’’ I invented a national alphabet forthe ivory coast so that we could move from an oral tradition to a writenone, and to unite people’’. The invention Bruly’s scripture was born fromthe absolute need to modernize the tradition by writing and mostly tounite the peoples. His system of graphic syllable is a creativealternative to answer the actual question of illiteracy in Ivory Coast.Based upon the bété language, his system reflects some characteristicswhich approximate to other systems. The aesthetics of this writing inform and substance symbolizes a true hyphen and brewing between time andspace. The synergy of its graphic syllable writing system is the crucibleof ignition from which springs another signature whose we are witnesses. |
