The Impact Of Achievement Goal Orientation On Creative Science

The object of the study had two purposes. Firstly, to explore the correlativity between achievement goal orientations and Creative Scientific Problem Finding Ability (CSPF), secondly, to explore the function of perfectionism in the relation between achievement goal orientations and CSPF. We hypothesized:different dispositional goals had a different effect on CSPF. there was a different effect between situated goals and CSPF. Test Perfectionism(especially this three dimensionality:Self-appreciation, Care about others, Self-criticism) was the mediating effectiveness of perfectionism on the relationship between dispositional goals and CSPF, perfectionism had no mediating effects between situated goal orientations and CSPF. To check out these assumptions, two studies designed.In study1,168participants from senior high school attended Dispositional Achievement Goal Scale, Perfectionism and CSPF Test. Employ Correlation and Multi-regression analysis statistical method, we inspect the impacts of dispositional goal orientations on CSPF. In study2,318participants were divided into five groups randomly. Each group entered into a aroused situated goal orientation severally. The objective of study2is to discuss situated goal orientations’ effect on CSPF. And the function of perfectionist between them. Results indicated:(1) There is no gender difference in CSPF and the fluency, flexibility, originality, perfectionist, performance approach goal, master approach goal, performance avoidance goal, but mastery avoidance goal differed remarkably in sexes.(2) Achievement goal orientations is significant positive correlation with perfectionist.(3) Different dispositional goals have different impacts on CSPF. Performance approach goal/master approach goal is positive relation to CSPF, performance avoidance goal/master avoidance goal is negative relation to CSPF.(4) There was a great effect between perfectionism and CSPF, perfectionism has not only positive effect, but also has negative effect. Perfectionist was a mediator between dispositional achievement goal and CSPF, the mediators were Self-appreciation, Care about others, Self-criticism.(5) Different situated goals had striking effects on CSPF. But some of these impacts were different from dispositional goals’ impacts. Among situated goals, master approach goal/performance approach goal had a positive impact. Performance avoidance goal negatively impact on CSPF. Master avoidance goal had two-sided characteristic, too. At one side, they can improve CSPF and the fluency, originality. At another side, they are reducing the scores of the flexibility.(6) There was a great effect between perfectionism and CSPF. and this factors had no interaction with situated goals.
