In this thesis, the author selects the translation of Chapter Six, The SocioculturalImpacts of Tourism, in The Business of Tourism, an English tourism managementtextbook for undergraduates; investigates the features of tourism textbooks; andexplores the problems in vocabulary, syntax and discourse and puts forward thesolutions to these problems in the course of the English-Chinese translation. The authorapplies the Text Typology of Reiss to analyze the text features of the target text andselect suitable translation strategies to use, and studies the approaches and functions ofapplying Parallel Text to the English-Chinese translation of English tourism textbooks,in order to improve the accuracy and normativity of translations. Hopefully, the thesiswill be a reference for future translators of English tourism textbooks. |
