Since the1970s, postmodernism like a ghost floating all areas of western theories has become one of the most influential ideological trend. Although postmodern thought is complex, it still can be divided into two basic tendencies—the deconstructive postmodernism represented by Derrida and the constructive postmodernism represented by David Griffin. The deconstructive post-modernism totally destroyed the west theory building and broke away from the traditional philosophy, which made panic and reflection. In the90s the constructive postmodernism appeared on the stage of history in a new way cultivating the ruins. Basing on the positive construction, David griffin, as its representative, enriches the constructive postmodernism. The constructive postmodernism of David Griffin has profound era backgrounds that are contemporary global social problem, the rising modern emotion and the new development of science and technology. At the same time it is based on the process philosophy, pragmatism and life philosophy. Basing on this, David Griffin creates and enriches the ideological treasure-house of constructive postmodernism, which contains postmodern science, postmodern spirit, postmodern society, postmodern religious and so on. All these show many basic characteristics, such as new philosophy form, Organic whole connotation and multivariate innovation style. Although like deconstructive postmodernists David Griffin criticizes modernity, he holds a dialectical attitude to modernity----his criticism and negation are to save and construct. This dialectic view highlights that David Griffin treats the modernity with rational thought. Therefore except from the utopia, his thoughts build a new image of science, shape a good spirit and set up a correct scientific idea. All these will be good for us to jump out of the shackles of the modern thought and promote the human development of theory and practice in the right direction.
