As an important part of self-study field, the self-handicapping owed more and more attention. This study used a questionnaire to understand the situation and characteristics of higher vocational students self-handicapping and discuss the factors influence the individual self-handicapping then constructs the model of influence factors.Researchers collected519effective questionnaires from two universities in Jiangsu province for revise Self-handicapping Scale which work out by Jones and Rhodewalt. In order to explore the status and characteristics of higher vocational students self-handicapping, and compared with undergraduate students. The researchers used a revised version of the questionnaire and self-handicapping, in Jiangsu and Shandong area of three higher vocational colleges has collected711valid questionnaires, in the Jiangsu region of three universities and212valid questionnaires were collected. In order to individual influencing factors of vocational college students self-handicapping, researchers used a revised version of the self-handicapping scale, self-esteem scale "Rosenberg"(SES), Lefcout "multidimensional multidirectional Attribution Scale"(MMCS), ZiFei revised Chinese version "Frost Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale (FMPS) and" Liu Huijun "Four divided into goal orientation scale" as the research tool. Researchers collected504effective questionnaires from two colleges in Jiangsu and Shandong Province. The main conclusions are as follows:(1)The Self-handicapping of higher vocational school student does not exsit differences from undergraduates.(2) Vocational students self handicapping in gender, grade, subject and the source of the demographic variables have significant differences. Males are significantly higher than females in Self-handicapping. The higher vocational school students’ Self-handicapping decreased with the increase of grade. Liberal arts students are significantly higher than science students in Self-handicapping. The students from city are significantly higher than the students from country in Self-handicapping.(3)Attribution style, perfectionism, achievement goal orientation, self-esteem and other factors on the impact of higher vocational students self-handicapping is verified. Self-esteem, attribution of the inner attribution dimension of perfectionism, worry about mistakes, doubts about action, parents’expectation, individual standard dimension and achievement goal orientation of mastery approach dimensions of self-handicapping has significant negative prediction. Attribution of the external attribution logic dimension and achievement goal orientation, perfectionism dimensions in performance avoidance, mastery avoidance and performance approach dimensions of self-handicapping significantly positive prediction effect.(4)Self-esteem in the attribution of the external attribution and attribution organization dimension, perfectionism of the influence on self-handicapping plays a partial mediating effect. Self-doubts about action in the dimensions of perfectionism influence on self-handicapping plays a mediating effect.
