In the stage of career exploration, college students have to explore more fully, which directly determines career choices and vocational adjustment in the future. In order to seek effective ways to improve college students’ career exploration, the paper focuses on the effects of self-supporting personality and social support status on vocational exploration. Using the questionnaire of Career Exploration Scale(CES), Self-Supporting Personality Scale(SSPS-AS) and Social Support Revauled Scale(SSRS), writer investigated414college students in Nanjin. Using the analysis software of SPSS16.0and LISREL8.8, writer made an analysis of the related data, revealed the status of college students’career exploration, self-supporting personality and social support. Furthermore, writer discussed the relationship between self-supporting personality, social support and career exploration, then gained some conclusions:(1) The level of college students’career exploration is mediocre, and they are better at self-exploration and goal-focusing. However, they get low points in environment exploration. There are significant differences in gender, grade and origin of career exploration. And there is no difference in subject and whether the only child in the family.(2) Generally, the level of students’self-supporting personality is high, and they are best at personal independence. But their interpersonal activeness and personal flexibility do not reach the level we expected. The level of students’ self-supporting personality is significantly different in gender, grade, origin and whether the only child in the family, while there is no difference in subject.(3) The level of students’ social support is not very well. And it is significantly different in gender, grade, origin and whether the only child in the family, while there is no difference in subject.(4) Self-supporting personality has a significant positive prediction to career exploration, and personal openness, personal independence, interpersonal flexibility and personal activeness have better power of prediction.(5) Social support has a significant positive prediction to career exploration, and objective social support plays the more important role for career exploring.(6) Self-supporting personality has a significant positive prediction to social support, while interpersonal activeness, personal activeness and interpersonal independence play the more important role for social support. (7) Social support has significant mediating effect on the relationship between self-supporting personality and career exploration. Specifically, objective social support and subject social support mediate the relationship.
