A Study Of The Creation Of Ancient

The imitating and cutting of ancient seals originated from the Ming and Qing Dynasty,and it bacame quite popular in the period of the Republic of China. Through theoreticalanalysis and summarization of the types and representatives of ancient seal creation in theperiod of the Republic of China, this paper holds the view that the ancient seal creation in theRepublic of China took the following three styles: the style of following “the Four Masters ofthe Late Qing Dynasty”, the style of ancient seals influenced by calligraphy and archaicChinese characters, and the innovative style of discarding the characters of ancient seals in theearly Qin Dynasty. On this basis, the author made further observations of the ancient-sealcreation ideas and stand of the seal masters in the Republic of China. Through intensive study,the author has clarified such ideas of ancient seal creation in the Republic of China as“keeping away from worldiness”,“concentrating on ancient seal creation”,“sticking topersonalized seal creation and changeability by learning from predecessors”,“regardinginscriptions on bronzeware as inflexible ones”.
