A Study Of The Heroic Features In Mao Zedong 's Poems

Chairman Mao’s poem has been another milestone in the history of Chinese Modern Poem after The Songs of Chu, Tang Poetry and Poetry of the Song Dynasty.It is an epic reflecting the revolution of New Democracy and Modern Socialism which is innovated and developed based on the achievements of predecessor. His poem embodied diverse culture and rich content unveiling the characteristic of artistic lingering and soaring determination. His unique work is a real reflection of his life with heroin, glorious and legend stories. As early as1940, a quantity of songs were composed according to his poem while musicians then knew little about the origination of the poet attributed to the special period so that his works were remain unknown. Untill1959, after the Establishment of PRC, did Chairman Mao public his work officially on Poetry one after another. Masterwork sprung up in large numbers when outstanding composers started reading and writing the music. The excellent poem, which have never really lost their appeal, were regarded as script by musicians in foreign countries at the same with China. His work with typicality is a rare specimen of good writing so as to great many composers wrote for them among which are tailed-made for baritone. Production will be handed on from age to age. This thesis will illustrate the feasibility from the angle of voice part consisting introduction, concluding remarks and contents. The first chapter overview the vocal songs of Chairman Mao following the history event of Culture Revolution. The second part elucidate the practicability of heroic songs and the last section make a conclusion of its feature according to musical analysis.
