The thesis carries a research on the overseas students’ acquisition of adverbs in series on the basis of inter-language corpora of Fudan University and inspects the adverbs in series phenomenon in Chinese language by analyzing and comparing the output of the learners in different phases, identifying their errors and the causes behind these errors, exploring the regularity and characteristics of acquisition in different levels. Through comparison and analysis the thesis demonstrates the regularity of acquisition of adverbs in series, which is beneficial for students to master Chinese more effectively, to express their opinions more clearly and more accurately, and make second language teachers teach students more efficiently with guidance, meanwhile, make due contribution to the research of Chinese language.This thesis consists of five chapters.Chapter One briefly introduces the reasons and significance of research on adverbs in series, the object of research, methods and steps, and the summary of the past research on the adverbs in series.Chapter Two introduces the classification of adverbs, the definition of adverb in series, all the concrete forms of adverbs in series which are82. These82adverbs in series are the most important part we will make research on.Chapter Three firstly describes the times and frequency of82adverbs in series in Chinese corpora, which is the standard we use to make a judgment on the acquisition of overseas students. Secondly, it analyzes the characteristics of acquisition in low, middle and high phases in the process of Chinese learning on the basis of exhaustive research on inter-language corpora of Fudan University.Chapter Four analyzes the errors in different levels and tries to figure out the causes behind these errors and give some suggestions on how to take corresponding measures to increase students’ efficiency on study.Chapter Five summarizes the whole paper and makes some contacts with Teaching Chinese as a Second Language.
