A Study Of The Traditional Qi Theory Of Naxi Nationality

“Qi” is an important category of Chinese philosophy, it has a very importantposition in every area of philosophy in our country, and it is also accordingly reflectedin all aspects of the Chinese traditional culture. However,“qi” thought is not thepatent of the Han nationality. In the philosophy of the Naxi nationality,“qi” is also animportant category, which is an important content of Naxi traditional culture. Basedon the “qi”, the ancient Naxi people formed the understanding of the origin of life, thegeneration of the cosmos and the Naxi dongba medicine. In a word,“qi” thought hasbecome the ideological foundation for Naxi people.“Qi” has a unique expression in the Naxi language and Dongba pictograph. Theunderstanding of its original meaning is the premise of our investigation to the Naxipeople’s “qi” thought. At the same time,“qi” has a very specific performance in theNaxi folk cultural activities, and understanding the cultural connotation and symbolicmeanings behind the folk customs is the right way we study Naxi philosophy.Therefore, this paper first from the perspective of linguistics, folklore and culturalanthropology, analyzes the formation and development process of the Naxi’s “qi”thought, which is the process of the perceptual understanding of nature phenomena tothe mystification and philosophical understanding of the “qi” in the Naxi culture.The connotation of the Naxi traditional thought of the “qi”, mainly reflected intheir thinking and exploration of the life and universe. Therefore, this paper analyzesthe origin of life and nature, concluded that the Naxi people has formed the conceptabout the cycle of the life based on “qi”. In the relation between soul and “qi”, theNaxi proposed the view of “soul can’t separated from qi”, and thus formed theunderstanding that shape, soul and “qi” are a kind of trinity which can’t be divided.Then expounds the cosmos and the generation ideas on the basis of the “qi”,concluded that the important feature of cosmology of the “qi” is the fusion of “qi” and“sound”, which can pregnant and produce all of the natural things.
