A Study Of The Modal Particles In "Heroes Of Heroes"

"ErNvYingXiongZhuan" is a vernacular novel which is based on Beijing dialect and slang. It was written during Daoguang reign in Qing Danasty. Daoguang years was a key transitional period from ancient Chinese to modern Chinese. The novel not only reflects true language situation well during transitional period, but also becomes good language materials for the study of Beijing dialect and its evolution in middle of the Qing dynasty. Though modal particles belong to enclosed terms, Classical Chinese modal particles and Modern modal particles have a great development. So it has a significance to study the modal particles in "ErNvYingXiongZhuan". Modal particles will be classified according to form and function in the paper.The paper is composed of five parts.The first part is the introduction which summarizes the system of mood and modal particles, research objective, research significance and research method.The second part is the analysis of modal particles in "ErNvYingXiongZhuan". All kinds of modal particles will be listed by frequency.The third part is the analysis of individual modal particle in "ErNvYingXiongZhuan" one by one.The fourth part is the comparison of the modal particles between "ErNvYingXiongZhuan" and "Water Margin".The fifth part is the conclusion.
