| With the rapid development of science and technology and the advances of internet, human civilization has entered the information era. The information is impacting people’s daily life at an unprecedented speed. The information amount that everybody needs to process every day on average is increasing. The information overload phenomenon has brought more negative emotions and invisible pressure. Under the condition, the problem of "information anxiety" and "information hunger" emerges. Now, it is imperative to address the negative influence that information overload has brought to the public.As a design for information exchange, Information Graphic Design can effectively solve many problems in the information transmission process and improve the information transmission efficiency. This paper first introduces the concept and design scope of information design and information graphic design, and analyzes the famous cases in the development history of information graphic design and the general rules of the perception and identification process. Based on the case study, the major expression techniques of information stratification in information graphic design are summarized. Second, the living surrounding of Northwest University is adopted as an example. Comparative study, questionnaire survey and other research methods are used to summarize the information characteristics of university’s living surrounding and point out problems to be noted during the design and application of the information type. Following that, the information graphic expression method suitable for general living environment information is drafted. At last, through more than one month of data collection, data analysis, audience survey, design draft and design realization, the information graphic design based on the information of living surrounding of Northwest University was completed and verified and improved the above theoretic structure stated above in the practical application. |
