Nationalism, which means the social movement on the basis of the interest of ones own nation. We should make sure that nationalism is controlled within a rational and positive category, and nationalism should not cross the line to become the narrow-minded nationalism. Because of the special nature of german history, the german nationalism is different from the nationalism in other nation-states. Thus the particularity of the german nationalism in the history is worth to be researched. Due to the influence of the Enlightenment and the Jagged Policy, the nationalism with power is deeply rooted in the hearts of the german people. And on the eve of World War II, the Nazi used people’s desire to live easily and launched the anti-Semitic campaign and proposed the racial superiority. At this time in Germany the nationalism got its highest point, people supported the leadership of Hitler and they wanted to expand. Being drived by nationalism began the World War II. But in the end, Germany failed. And the german had to face the poor life again, their attitude towards Nazi also changed from supporting to hating. Not only Nazi is the sinner of World War II, but also the german people. In fact the narrow-minded nationalism is the chasing to interest. We can say that, it is the chasing of interest that drives the history.
