| Wu Tianming is one of the representative of ‘the fourth generation’ movie director and he is the pioneer of Chinese western film.In his 30 years of artistic career, there are only eight films including the united movies ‘Genetic’ and the not released ‘Birds paying homage to the phoenix’.Among them ‘The life’ and ‘ Old Well’ are his artistic peak. In his small but influential works, we can also see the common features of the ‘fourth generation director’and unique personality of his own.This paper takes Wu Tianming’s artistic creation as the research object. On the basis of analysis and combing its creation background and creation of track, to explore its works mainly focus on the following three parts:The first part is the realistic human feelings, with the deep sense of hardship, the characters are in misery. To description the compromise, optimism and the resistance of the suffering, expression the life and fate, the attention and praise of life consciousness; The second part is expression of human nature in ordinary narration. This part mainly from the narrative methods and expression style to analysis the artistic style of Wu Tianming. Wu Tianming combined the traditional film narrative with documentary aesthetics to express the real life, and excavate the connotation of human nature in this scenes; The third part is the rational reflection of the national culture. Wu Tianming turns to the Chinese traditional culture, to show the conflicts between traditional and modern, civilization and ignorance.Thinking the tragedy of conflict. Reflection the backwardness and ignorance of the traditional idea. But in how to treat this kind of traditional culture also showed a tolerant attitude.Finally, this paper also analyzed Wu Tianming’s contributions and limitations briefly. As‘the father of the fifth generation’, he fostering a large number of outstanding film director,has the courage to step the pace of reforms. However, there are obvious limitations of the times in his artistic creation. |
