Textual Research On Some Famous Objects In Shanhai Jingxi And Its Cultural Connotation

"Shan Hai King" is an important literature in the ancient society. It has been called "the best in all the land of academic books” by the academic world. It is hard to research "Shan Hai King" because of its remote age and obscure language. It requires researching and studying various disciplines and other ancient literature to understand it. The "Classic of the Western Mountains" of "Shan Hai King" is refined in language, brief in paragraph, rich in content and maintained well. So it is still being researched. While this article attempts to study the "Classic of the Western Mountains" with emphasis on the antique and its cultural significance on the basis of previous studies. The paper consists of the following sections:First of all, this paper studies antique of the "Classic of the Western Mountains", with focuses on five aspects: plant, animal, mineral, disease and landscape. Study of plants, animals and examines the name, form, purpose and use value, etc; study of landscape focuses on textual research and examines various studies about Kunlun mountain and its inoculation of ancient culture; study of diseases examines the sound, meaning and the ancient books, documents, which uncovers the mysterious veil of the bizarre diseases in the book.Then based on researching antique, the paper discusses the cultural connotation of antique in the "Classic of the Western Mountains". The section discusses its cultural significance from four aspects: the totem worship, rituals, myths and legends, tribes. This paper mainly studied totem worship, including plant worship and animal worship, and worship of the combination of people, god, and beast to analysis of the influence of primitive belief in the origin of Chinese civilization. Study of ritual focuses on contrasting sacrifice of the goods to sum characteristic of Worship custom in this place; study of myths and legends discusses strange animals and birds, and the two characters of the Yellow Emperor and the Goddess of Western Heaven to explore the social form and the ancestors of the time of the modes of production and life; study of tribes : the YING-ZHAO Tribe, the Lu-Wu Tribe. We research its contribution to the formation and development of the Chinese people.In short, the research of the "Classic of the Western Mountains" requires further unremitting efforts. There are many historical data in the "Classic of the Western Mountains" which has great significance for us to study the history of the western region, culture, and religion, etc.
