Archway cultural heritage is a kind of special tourism resources in our co untry. It reveals stark differences with other cultural landscape, especially the 1 andscape architecture in the unique form, the visible and identifiable landscape and the diversity of cultural landscape. It reflects the profound historical and cultural value, aesthetic value and economic value and has great potentiality in tourism exploitationIn this paper, I collected 1064 archways all over the country through the network, books, spot investigation and other methods. Considered the four pers pectives of different spatial scales, types, times and culture area, this research provided the systematic, analyzing spatial distribution characteristics of the arch way cultural heritage.Analysis showed archway cultural heritage widely distributed around the n ational and provincial spatial scales, but some areas indicated obvious centraliz ed distribution characteristics:the most densely populated east is the main arch way distributed area in China, especially in Zhejiang, Anhui, Fujian, Jiangsu, S handong provinces. From the type perspective, the largest number which accou nted for 71.66% is the stone archway. Wooden archway mainly distributed in t he north primarily consist of Beijing, Shandong, Shanxi provinces. A small nu mber of brick archways and mixed archways scattered across some provinces.T hree main types in the north of China are the identification archway, the virtu e archway and the temple archway. In the east, middle and south area, the ch astity archway and the virtue archway are the major types. In all of the ranke d archways, national key cultural object protection units are mainly distributed in t he north. Provincial units are uniformly distributed in some areas. Only small a mounts of other ranked units mainly distributed in three or four provinces. Th e largest number of archway type was built from the Ming and Qing dynasties. This period archway accounted for 76.88%. In different culture area, eastern a gricultural culture area accounted for 99.53%. There were four vice districts lo cated relatively high quantity archways among this area. Archways in other vice districts were relatively small.Based on the spatial distribution analysis, the paper made a further more detailed analysis of archway cultural heritage and established a landscape gene identification system. Then stand the perspective of tourism exploitation, the establi shment of a set of qualitative analysiswith quantitative analysis of resource value asse ssment system. Research showed that the highest score is concentrated in Anhui, Fujian, Zhejiang, Beijing. The last chapter includes the main conclusions and s ome development strategies.
