Academic Research On Changzhou School In The Middle

Chang Zhou School of study in the middle Qin dynasty, represented by Zhuang Cun-yu, Zhuang Shu-Zu, Liu Feng-lu, and Song Xiang-feng, upheld the dominant status of Chun Qiu Gong Yang Zhuan (the record of Spring and Autumn by Gong Yang Gao) in the Confucius Doctrines, looking for the intricate reason illustrated in the doctrine and witnessing a transform from blending the academic practice of Han and Song dynasties to solely Han dynasty approach. Zhuang Cun-yu advocated a holistic perspective of all the five doctrines. Zhuang Shu-zu emerged himself in the probe into the academic achievements of scholars in Han dynasty. Chang Zhou School is thought to mark the beginning of the thriving of the Old version of the doctrines with the distinction between the Old and New Versions of the ancient doctrines becoming wider. But from the perspective of its contents and methodology, Chang Zhou School was not regarded as mainstay. Its academic status and value lies in its collection and research of the New Version of Confucius doctrines and thus formed the foundation of study of them. And it is especially valuable in the utilitarian trend among academic. Chang Zhou School enriched and transcended the study of the academic traditions of Han dynasty.
