This thesis is A Report on the C-E Translation of "The Social Network of Wenzhou People in Paris and Beijing" from the Perspective of "Skopos Theory". The source text is an academic paper published by Professor Wang Chunguang on social relation network in the journal Social Science Research. It is characterized by preciseness and objectivity in statement, specification in writing format, plainness and concision in diction and frequent use of long sentences in syntax. English translation of the academic thesis is an important channel for the academic scholars both at home and abroad to exchange ideas, and is conducive to the further development of research work. The translation report aims to the C-E Translation of the Social Network of Wenzhou People in Paris and Beijing of deepening a better understanding and communicating for the importance of social networks, and further deepening the study of the Skopos Theory, which also provides a reference significance for the similar translation practice. Skopos Theory is an essential one of the functional theories. It was created by two famous German translation theorist H.J.Vermeer and Katherina Reiss in the late1970s and the early1980s. Skopos Theory states that translation is a kind of behavior, to be exact, an intercultural communication. Any kind of behavior has its own purpose, and the purpose of translation behavior determines translation strategies. The translation practice of the selected project is based on information communication, in clear and direct language. Therefore, we should follow the principles of Skopos Theory in the process of translation in order to make the translation better understood by the recipient and smooth the communication. This translation report consists of four parts. The first part includes the research background, theoretical significance and application value, the research status and development trend about the topic at home and abroad. The second part analyzes the translation process. Firstly, the preparations of translation are briefly summarized. Secondly, it introduces a systematic analysis and summary on the translation Skopos Theory. Finally under the guidance of the functional Skopos Theory, it analyzes the content of the project and its translation purpose. The third part expounds the translation principles. Respectively from skopos rule, coherence rule and fidelity rule, it sums up the principles in the translation process, with examples to illustrate the translation principles adopted in the process of translation. The fourth part illustrates the translation methods. Respectively from lexical level and syntactic level, it sums up the methods in the translation process, with examples to illustrate the translation methods adopted in the process of translation, such as literal translation, free translation and other translation methods. The fifth part is an analysis of the experience and revelation obtained in the process of translation.
