A Study Of Yusuf Ve Ehmed In Uygur Folk Dustan

Uyghur folk dastan is a kind of descriptive literature form which is combinaion of poetic language and prose language. These works are content-rich and have long history. They described Uyghur people’s lifestyle,value system, religious believes, as well as the wars between different ancient tribes.In this essay, author mainly study a classic hero Dastan namded "Yusuf and Ahmat".This dastan mainly describe people’s life during the KARAHAN kingdom, which is the first islamic kingdom of Uyghur people. The region where Uyghur people live is an intersection on the ancient silk road. Many cultures around the world, including Uyghur culture, Chinese culture, Indian culture, Persian culture, Greek culture and Arabian culture, have met in this region and deeply interpenetrated with one another.This dastan is regarded as a cross-national Dastan because duiring the process of history, this dastan had been sung by many "DASTANQI" and remained till now thanks to many good- hearted calligraphers.Author selected 1982’s edition, which is published by Xinjiang People’s Press, as object of study. This edition was performed by Awut Rawap and collected by Muhammed Zunun. Author carried out the research by using discription, comparison, analize and summarize Dastan’s story, motif, its poetic characters and rhetorical features.This essay consists of four parts, including introduction, main body, conclusion and appendix.Main body can be devided into four chapters; First chapter mainly describe "YUSUF AND AHMED"’s basic content, main idea, research velue and placenames that appeared in the Dastan.Second chapter includes two sections. First section devided the whole plot into seven fragments and uses description to portray the changes in each story fragments. Second section listes various motifs by using theory of motif classification by Tompson.Third chapter discusses DASTAN’s poetic features briefly by three parts. In the first part, eassay mainly discusses feet and rhythm of Dastan’s poem; In the second part, metre of the DASTAN’S poem is mainly discussed. The last part mainly discusses poems form features.Fourth chapter study the dastan from the rhetoric aspects. In this chapter, the author listed commonly used rhetorics like metaphor, analogy, contrast, exaggeration, parallelism, modification, euphemism, expirium, repetition and quotation to highlight its beauty of language.This essay highlighted its innovation point by making a break through in traditional ways of studying a dastans, much attention was paid to record its text and usually do not emphasize detailed studies. While, this essay carried out detailed research on DASTAN’s poetic and rhtoric features by analyzing and summarizing. Descriptions have been made to describe DASTANS’s storyline and motif.
