This paper, taking the Mongolian language media that Xinjiang Mongol nationality contact as the research object, through the first-hand material obtained from experts, audience interviews and questionnaire, investigates the master degree of Mongolian language, language attitude, and the current situation of application of Mongolian language in Xinjiang medias, describes the achievements that Mongolian language media obtained from the subjective and objective aspects, points out the existing problems and puts forward countermeasures and suggestions.In general, the Mongolian language used in the field of Xinjiang medias has made the following achievements:increasing duration of Mongolian radio and television program, more practical program, more Mongolian language media service for people’s livelihood, more translated film and television works with high quality; the increasing types and number of books and newspapers, more original and translated work; constantly improved Mongolian literature and art performance research and talents.This research combines the different social characteristics of the audience (including gender, age, geographic area, level of education, occupation), examines the Mongolian language media situation. According to the survey, most Mongolian audiences choose the Mongolian language from the Mongolian language, Chinese language, Uygur language and Kazakh language, and they contact with television and radio most frequently.The deficiency existing in Mongolian language media development mainly includes the communication content, communication effect, personnel training, cultural people-benefit project, etc. In the aspect of communication content, the program (column) is not colorful enough, the programs always repeat themselves, local Mongolian television program has poor quality, the self newspaper press is fewer, the policy interpretation is not in place; in the aspect of communication effect, the local Mongolian radio’s audience is fewer, the timeliness of Mongolian TV news is not good, radio and television’s publicity effect is not good, the newspaper mail is not in time, influencing the spread of news; in the aspect of talent training, it lacks editors, teachers, actors, translators and other professional talents, the translation level needs to be improved; in the aspect of cultural people-benefit project, the utilization rate of country bookstore is low, the rural film releasing is not in place.In order to better meet the growing spiritual and cultural needs of the Mongolian people, promote the development of Mongolian language media, thus further develop the minority culture in our country, the author puts forward the following suggestions:firstly, the government should further attach great importance to the development of minority language, enhance the network security management mechanism, perfect the public cultural service facilities, increase the investment in cultural construction, combine the economic and social benefits. Secondly, improve the ability of media development; pay more attention to people’s livelihood news. Combine the culture and entertainment to develop the media career, strengthen the business training for practitioners. Thirdly, colleges and universities should pay more attention to establishing more minority language professionals, opening courses about traditional culture, in order to increase the understanding of their national culture for students. Scholars should pay more attention to the development of minority cultural media, strengthen the related research, especially the investigation about the news practice. Fourthly, combine multiple environments, such as family, school and society to improve the Mongolian language proficiency of teenagers, motivate youth to consciously learn Mongolian language. Fifthly, do translation work, improve the translation skills, and strengthen the training work for Mongolian interpreters.
