Li Dongyang, who lived from Chenghua to Zhengde years, is a notable litterateur, poet and calligrapher in the early-middle period of Ming Dynasty. TaiGe Calligraphy became popular from the Hongwu to the Yongle years. Between the Chenghua and the Hongzhi years, great changes have taken place in Chinese calligraphy. The style of Calligraphy advocating the individuality and expressing personal emotions was reborn. Li Dongyang integrated the fine and neat style of TaiGe Calligraphy and the style of expressing individuality, and created a new style of himself.
